My daughter, 3 grandchildren and I just left Outback steak house in Phenix City Ala. The experience left a lot to be desired. The bathroom was dirty, food too salty and the wait extremely long. We observed patrons been served who got there way after we had been seated and still waiting. The wait was so long that we eventually cancelled our orders and left

The worst experience. Ever. I will try to keep this awful experience brief. My party arrived around 8 to eat and we were seated. I personally ordered a lemonade, a salad, and then for my main dish, I ordered loaded mashed potatoes. Other people in my party also got the mashed potatoes. To start, the food took forever to come out, but once it did come out maybe around 9 if I had to guess, all of the mashed potatoes were missing as the waiters said they were still being cooked. Okay, no problem, i understand things take time. Multiple waiters and waitresses stopped by to say things like, a few more minutes on the potatoes they're still being cooked. Okay great. Let's just fast forward to the end of the story around 2 hours from arrival and we are told "so sorry, we actually don't have any potatoes". This was so incredibly upsetting seeing as it was all I ordered for my meal. I sat, waiting 2 hours, for food that was never coming, despite being told multiple times that they were just cooking. This wouldn't be as huge of an issue if this weren't my main course. Or if at ANY point I was made aware of the lack of potatoes and given a chance to order a new food before sitting and starving for hours. And this is even worse because I am almost 8 months pregnant and I strategically pick different foods and meals so that throughout my day my baby can get the nutrients that are needed. Additionally the salad that I had flat out, was not good. I hardly ate it because it was low quality and there were small things such as asking it for no tomatoes but receiving tomatoes anyways. To make matters worse, two people in my party ordered medium well steaks. One steak arrived medium rare and the other was medium. Neither of which is what was ordered. If this weren't a steakhouse I could understand, but with so many issues in one night, I'm confused.
The handling of these issues went poorly as well. We asked to speak to a manager who did almost nothing. She came over to let us know the kitchen manager is "very upset" and the worker who is at fault is being disciplined because his actions have messed up tables all night with the lack of potatoes. Well for starters, that's great but that doesn't help me and my lack of food. And secondly, if it's true that for the entire night, tables have been messed up due to a lack of potatoes, why not tell me there aren't any when I ordered instead of two hours later? How hard can it be to say "we're out of potatoes" rather than lying to us and saying "just a few more minutes" over and over again.
Our bill had several issues. And it was a complete hassle to get the potatoes we never received taken off the bill, although I'm not sure why. And on top of that we were charged for random things.
She did take the potatoes off by the end of the ordeal, but the worst part of it all is that the manager said "hold on" so she could go see what the issue was, and then literally never. Ever returned. We sat waiting and waiting for her to come back and let us know something and she never did. We just bit the bullet, paid, and left. Will never be eating here again and am posting a very honest review so that people in my area can avoid these issues. Especially my fellow pregnant ladies.

This is the best thing Phenix City has had in a very long time. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and took her time to make sure substitutions were put in correctly. The steak was cooked median rare, exactly as I asked. It’s not often I find a place that gets it right. The atmosphere was great, modern decor, but still very relaxed. I also noticed the server beside our table was going above and beyond for his table as well. They have the best service of any Outback around. We will definitely be back!
