  Do NOT patronize this business owned by SUSAN TATE ! I had two very disappointing experiences at this Tropical Smoothie Cafe location, and I will not be returning. The first time, my son and I stopped by after a track meet and were refused service in-store and was told we had to place our order online. That was already frustrating, considering we were headed home after a long day but I gave them another chance. This most recent visit was even worse. I placed my order online and was charged twice, only to be told when I arrived that my order was never received and could not be made. I showed proof of both charges, and the employee had to call the manager over. The manager acknowledged the charges and then called the owner on speaker. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, the owner was dismissive and rude. She suggested the error happens “often” at this location and implied that either I ordered at the wrong location or that my card was “locked.” When I tried to explain that I was certain I ordered correctly, that I was given a pick up time and simply wanted to know what steps to take regarding being charged twice without receiving my food, she repeatedly talked over me. At one point, she even said, “IF YOU LET ME EXPLAIN INSTEAD OF CUTTING ME OFF,” despite the fact that I was trying to get clarity on my situation as a paying customer. The conversation became so unproductive and disrespectful that I handed the phone back to the manager and left. My son and I ended up going home without dinner. As a customer, I expect basic respect and a willingness to resolve issues—especially when there is clear proof of payment. Instead, I was met with poor communication, lack of accountability, and unprofessional behavior from the owner. I support local businesses, but I will not spend my money where I am treated this way. I’ll gladly take my money somewhere I’m actually respected—and where my card isn’t blamed for their system issues. Highly disappointing experience.

  The smoothie bowl was a bit too sweet for us, I think they add something to sweeten the smoothie base so not purely natural (my opinion). But if you’re a sweet tooth you’d probably love it!! Also, the dine-in section closes at 8pm, and only the drive-through stays till 9pm. We wanted to dine-in but ended up taking it out because we got there at a few minutes past 8! The flatbread was quite yummm

  Favorite place for smoothies…Skyler is my favorite smoothie maker, always smiling and helpful. Love the Birmingham location.
