- NPNick PikeNov 10, 20252.0We were super excited to come back to montanas after having visted many times before with wonderful service and food only to be disappointed with our dinner and went home pretty upset. We ordered lobster antojitos and they took a lot longer than usual to come out we had to ask our server where they were and she said they were still being made and left the table. She came back with them almost immediately after we mentioned them to her and they looked..horrendous, squished and cut unevenly. almost pulled apart, little amounts of filling in some of them..looked like they were thrown onto the plate with no attention, they were cold as well, the cheese seemed to almost be starting to dry, the sour cream was even starting to be too warm..we ate them and they were good tasting but off putting with the temperature of them. We ordered our other food and received them at the usual wait time even though it was really busy which was awesome. I enjoyed my poutine and was getting excited for my southern-fried chicken sandwich (I had ordered it multiple times before and never been disappointed by it), I noticed the chicken itself was not golden in color like usual but a dark brown almost burnt in some spots I took a bite thinking it was just the edges that got a little too crispy, the first bite was alright it lacked flavor and was very bland. The dill pickles I love having in the burger weren't on it ! Worst of all when I took a second bite deeper into the burger I got a mouthful of what tasted like burnt oil and grease it was so disgusting it completely turned my stomach. The taste of the oily burnt chicken stayed in my mouth for several minutes after the bite. Ashi our server was really nice and took it back and got us another item off the menu which I am greatful for..the chicken tacos my partner got were good and the fries were awesome.. it was pretty disappointing to be sat at the table with nothing to eat, we decided to take my smokehouse wrap home when it arrived as we were running out of time to stay and our moods were a bit deflated being disappointed and upset that my partner ate a full meal while I had only ate the small poutine and was left with a literal bad taste in my mouth..we love montanas and have been using it as a routine date night spot for months but this was super off putting and definitely messed up our night..

While we had our drinks, the 4th party ordered his drink but took over half hour to arrive. 5:20pm two meals arrived... then the fixings for ONE of two Fajitas showed up... After another 15 minutes waiting I flagged down the manager (think he was manager) and said we were still waiting... Then he arrived with the two meals, 5:40pm. It was an hour wait for our food. Also we paid twice for a coffee for one, no free refills at this chain. $5.98 for a coffee. Absolutely not impressed with the service in the restaurant chain. While the food was good, Montana's in Fort McMurray will not be a place we will be coming back to. We were visiting the area at the time. UPDATE: We appreciate management reaching out to us. We took them up on their offer and we were served a timely and very good meal. Thank you very much. We will be back when in town.
