I would like to notify everyone the discriminatory and rude behavior I experienced from staff at this McDonald's location.
I visited the restaurant around breakfast time and placed my order with a young female employee. When I attempted to pay, the card machine repeatedly timed out. We tried approximately five times, and I am confident there was no issue with my card. The employee began showing visible impatience and asked if I could use a different card. I then called over a senior staff member, who confirmed the machine was glitching and restarted it. Shortly after, the supervisor informed me that the machine was down and that I would need to pay in cash.
I paid in cash without issue. However, I advised the supervisor that if the machine was down, that information should have been clearly communicated to staff to avoid confusion. During the transaction, the employee serving me was making faces and rolling her eyes, which felt intimidating and disrespectful, as if implying I did not have the means to pay. The supervisor apologized, but I expressed that an apology means little if such behavior continues.
When I arrived home, I discovered that although the burger wrappers were labeled “no meat,” all four burgers contained beef. This was extremely concerning, especially as it directly conflicts with my dietary and religious beliefs.
I called the restaurant and spoke with the same supervisor. I raised concerns about staff focus and professionalism, particularly employees chatting in their local language while working, which made it appear that they were distracted and not attentive to customers. Two serious errors had occurred back-to-back.
I was told to return in the evening and that the evening manager, Rachel, would be informed. When I returned via the drive-thru, I ordered a coffee and asked to speak with Rachel at the window, as instructed. I showed her the incorrect burgers. She stated she would process a refund but took several minutes without explanation. When she asked me to accept the refund, I simply requested to confirm the amount against my original charge to ensure accuracy. She rudely responded, “Just take it, you are holding the line.”
This was unacceptable. I had waited patiently while she processed the transaction, yet when I asked one reasonable question, she became dismissive and hostile.
At the next window, I asked for a pen to provide my name and number so the location owner could contact me. Rachel smirked, said “thank you” twice in a sarcastic manner, and walked away after taking my details. I requested that the owner contact me within 24 hours or I would escalate the matter to the appropriate authorities, as it is unacceptable and almost impossoible for one customer to experience repeated mistakes and disrespect in a single day. hence, there was deliberate intention behind the staff's behaviour as I reported the disprespectful behaviour to supervisor.
After she walked away, I had to call out because I had not yet received my order. She returned and stated she was “waiting for me to stop talking” before handing it over. This behavior was completely unprofessional.
To the owner of this location: I expect a call from yourself within 24 hours, as I have left my contact information. If we can resolve this directly, that would be preferable. Otherwise, I will be forced to escalate the matter to the appropriate authorities to address the discrimination, repeated service failures, and violation of my religious dietary requirements.
There are many other McDonald’s locations in town. Based on this experience, I strongly advise others to avoid this one. I wish there was an option to give 0 stars.
