My family has had an extremely frustrating experience with Credit Union of Texas regarding a Power of Attorney for my grandmother. On April 10, my mother and grandmother visited the branch to complete the necessary paperwork and update the account. Because my mother was relinquishing her authority and I would be acting as Power of Attorney, I was contacted by a banker who assured me everything would be completed and that he would follow up within a few days. Weeks passed with no communication. When I contacted customer service, I was told there was still no Power of Attorney on file. A representative reached out to the branch on my behalf, and Branch Manager Shawn contacted me promptly. He explained that the original banker was no longer employed there and assured me he would personally handle the matter. He asked me to email the Power of Attorney documents, which I did on April 28. After that, I sent multiple follow-up emails, left voicemails, and received little to no response. Since I live more than two hours away, repeatedly visiting the branch was not an option. On June 11, while in town assisting my grandmother, I visited the branch in person. Shawn acknowledged that he had not yet reviewed the documents, despite having had them since April. He assured me he would review everything that day and send the required disclosures for signature the following day. During the same visit, we also learned that my grandmother's online banking access had been frozen and were told that issue would be addressed as well. The following day, Shawn contacted me and stated that an additional document was needed showing that my mother had relinquished her authority to me. We immediately obtained the document and my mother personally delivered it to the branch. She was told that I would receive communication that same day. Once again, no communication was received. My frustration is not with the need for documentation or compliance requirements. My frustration is with the repeated lack of follow-through, missed commitments, unanswered emails, unanswered voicemails, and the amount of time it has taken to resolve what should have been a straightforward Power of Attorney matter for an elderly customer. Families handling matters for aging relatives already have enough stress. Consistent communication and follow-through should not be this difficult.

I hadn't had the best of luck with CUTX, however I decided to continue to follow thru with my mission. I was initially working with S.Franks who diligently got to work on opening my business account. He was very professional, returned phone calls and worked expeditiously on my account. When I came to the branch I worked with Silas Nelson. What could have been maybe a 10 minute visit turned into about 45 minutes because I had questions. No matter how I probably asked the same question in different ways Mr Nelson took his time answered all my questions and made sure I understood. Even after I left I had a question and he called me right back to answer. Mr Nelson provided great customer service which I really appreciated it. It definitely made me wish I came to this branch first.
