By far one of the worst South States I have been to. For a straight month now their window has been closed and the only lane open is the lane with the tube and they never get to the person in the window anyways so y end up having to go in. New customer service compared to old service is a downgrade as well. Overall needs some changes

Absolutely terrible, first sign of trouble was a $10 charge for cashier checks. Real problems started when I tried to use my debit card and got a message that my card was reported lost even though I had not reported it lost. Was informed that my account was closed due to some kind of fraudulent activity. Local branch manager could not provide any info and never received a response from whoever the fraud team is, I really feel a that reason should be provide. Now the fun part, I was told that a direct deposit that I was expecting would be available for me to withdraw along with my ending balance once it posted. I was told that I could do this at my local branch on Monday August the 4th. When I arrived I was told that a check was drafted and would be mailed. Still have not received it as of August the 7th. Communication is awful, the tellers are very good and the only highlight, however they seem to have a lot of info hidden from them and have to rely on a very unpleasant, and unhelpful manager.

Avoid this bank at all costs. The communications within this bank is horrible. We used their online transaction process to transfer money from a South State Checking Account to a South State Credit Card. It took nearly five days to transfer the money. During this time money was withdrawn from the checking account that caused the transition to be pulled back. Not sure why it allowed us to withdrawal $100 from the checking if we did not have funds to secure the withdrawal. Per South State, the online transfer should only take 1 to 3 business days. Now we owe a penalty to South State Credit Card and the customer service refuses to work with us on this but instead continued to cut us off, chatise us and blame us for their poor automated systems and processes. Save yourself the hassle and go to another bank. It's no wonder they only have a 3.2 rating on Google.
