  I needed a duplicate check reversed. They promptly reversed both the duplicate, and the original, leaving me with negative funds in account. When I explained this, they said they would reinstate the check. That was 4 days ago, still not reinstated, and I've now been charged a $5 service charge for no reason. I explained this to their chat bot, which promptly ended the session 12 seconds after the message was sent. I'm literally trapped at my house with no way to leave, as I can't put gas in my car. Literally life ruining incompetence at this bank. It does not matter if they have marginally less fees than other banks, doing business here may well be the worst financial decision of your life.

  I opened an account with South State Bank 3 months ago and have had nothing but grief since. This bank is by far the worst bank I have ever dealt with. If you are looking for good customer service, do not do business with this bank. It took over 2 hours to open an account in their Summerville branch. Then we moved to Beaufort and it was just as bad. We waited in the drive through for 10 minutes before being acknowledged because the teller was flirting with the customer at the drive through window next to us. Recently on a Sunday we drove to a branch ATM and it was broken. We then drove to another branch and that ATM was down as well. There were other issues I wont bore you with, but the kicker is that I drove there last Saturday at 10:00 am and lo and behold they were closed. No longer a South State Bank customer. Thank you.
