  I had an issue on my account and was told I needed to physically go to a branch for help. Because the branch near me closed, I drove to this Hood River branch, an hour away. It was a nice drive on a pretty day, and I was hopeful my simple account issue would be solved that day. There was not another customer in the branch the entire time I was there. I spoke with the tellers, who were very nice, but they said they needed their manager's approval. They motioned behind them to an office where the manager sat at her desk, talking and laughing with another FIB employee. The teller messaged the manager, who I watched, in real time, in front of me through the glass, decline to speak with me. She continued socializing with the employee and ignored me. The tellers told her I drove a full hour to see her in person. The manager not only couldn't be bothered to speak with me, she didn't even acknowledge my presence in the otherwise empty bank. I told the tellers I could wait until she had a few minutes on that quiet weekday afternoon where I was the only customer. That idea was also rejected. I couldn't believe it. This is a small-town retail bank branch, whose top priority should be service. Why do I even bank here?? The tellers said they would relay my account information and issue to the manager, who they said would contact me that afternoon. We verified my contact info, and I left with my head down. Without saying a word, that manager told me I wasn't worth her time. And then insult to injury, she never contacted me. I looked for her call that day, and the two days after. Nothing. Apparently I did not warrant even a phone call. I had to go to another branch to solve my problem, where I received five-star service and a five-star review. If I was the manager of an underperforming retail bank branch, knowing another small area branch had just closed, you better believe I would be providing the absolute best service I could to ensure my branch stayed open. It's self-preservation, or lack thereof. This review never needed to be written. If the manager had just done her job and spent a few easy minutes with me, this would have had a different outcome. We'll see how long this branch lasts.

  Been shopping around for a new bank for my business because I moved into the area. Called twice was greeted poorly by a Maria the first time and the second time by a Fatima. If that’s the way they treat potential clients by the phone it gives a bad impression. We’ll be taking my business somewhere else.

  I've been with First Interstate for years. The staff has always gone out of their way to be personable and helpful. Adela in the Hood River branch has been particularly outstanding at customer service. She recently went above and beyond and I felt the need to leave a review.

  Read the fine print. This company repeatedly took advantage of me and my situation. Avoid if at all possible.

  Just setting up accounts. They have a hard time retruning phone calls and getting information correct, but they are very responsive when it comes to correcting errors. That is a big plus these days.
