- CGChantalle GrantJul 10, 20251.0Absolutely Unacceptable I’ve been a loyal Ridgewood customer since I was 14 years old — nearly two decades — and today’s experience at this branch was by far the worst I’ve ever had with any bank. This is only my second time at this location, which I chose because it’s the closest to my job. I came in to make a simple withdrawal with my ID. The teller asked for the last four digits of my social — fine. Then my mother’s maiden name — fine. Next thing I know, they’re calling over a manager to question me about my own money. I overheard the manager admit under his breath that everything matched. And yet, I was still made to sign again because my signature supposedly didn’t match — even though I signed it exactly the same way. It took three employees to let me withdraw a small amount of my own funds. I don’t know if Soma’s disrespectful attitude was because I’m Black, because I’m a woman, or both — but I left feeling completely humiliated and disrespected by the people at my home branch. Ridgewood seriously needs to train its staff to treat loyal customers with decency and basic respect instead of acting like gatekeepers of money that does not belong to them. Do better — or you’ll keep losing people like me who’ve trusted you for nearly twenty years.
