  I would not recommend SouthState Bank. Poor communication, lack of transparency, and questionable handling of customer accounts make this a bank I would not trust with my money. If I could provide a 0 star review I absolutely would.

  I would giver zero stars if possible unfortunately. I've jumped through more hoops with them than in all my life banking. Cancelled my external transfers for no reason then tell me to just write a check. Can't if I don't have one and never have nor intended to. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll come get a cashier check and close my accounts thank you. I do not wish to have someone holding my money hostage. I did everything secure they require and yet won't move it. No thanks.

  The first South State branch that I encounter with poor customer service. I’m in shock and disbelief that with two business accounts they wouldn’t notarize a document for the business. A little bit about the story new hires that would work for my business they would sign a Non Compete agreement and I would send them to my local branch either in Hampstead for my Hampstead NC location or in Wilmington NC for the Wilmington location. Well the branch that I always used closed down about a year ago. I send my new staff member to this branch in Shipyard Blvd. well she was turned away and was asked to open an account to get the document notarized. After two days of back and fourth and speaking on the phone with them was told to send my staff member so they can notarize the document. Long story short my staff member goes to the branch as we were directed and once again she was turned away by the branch manager Mr. Ty Frederick. I go to the branch and have him review both of my good standing business accounts explained to him what the other branches do as a courtesy to the business since it’s not a personal matter and he informed me they wouldn’t be able to Notarize the document for the business. I politely inform him that I will be back the next day in the morning to close the account for the Wilmington location and will find a different bank to do business that treat their clients respectfully and courteous.
