In August 2025, my business debit card was compromised while I was traveling to Atlanta for surgery on August 28. First National Bank contacted me while I was in the hospital about fraudulent charges. I confirmed that I did not recognize the transactions, so the bank placed a hold on my card. I was then told that the only way to receive a replacement card was to physically visit a branch and sign paperwork. One week after major surgery, I went into the branch. I still had surgical drains, was actively bleeding, could barely walk, and was in significant pain. I signed the required paperwork and asked for a temporary debit card so I could continue operating my business while I waited for the permanent replacement. They refused. I was told that waiting approximately 10 business days was “industry standard practice.” In reality, I did not have a functioning business debit card in my hands until late September. The bank offered me cash in the meantime, which was completely useless for my situation. My business operates digitally. My software, advertising, subscriptions, and other business expenses are paid electronically. I could not run an entirely digital business with a handful of cash. While I was recovering, still bleeding, still dealing with surgical drains for more than a month, and in an enormous amount of pain, charges and fees continued hitting the account. I later discovered that First National Bank had assessed significant overdraft fees, followed by additional daily fees, and eventually closed the account. Fast-forward to this week. Meta had continued sending payments to that account, and I had accidentally missed updating that one payment destination. When I contacted Meta to find out where my payments had gone, Meta confirmed they had been sent to First National Bank. We are talking about a few hundred dollars that belongs to me and was deposited into my former business account. I contacted First National Bank to ask how I could receive my money. Their proposed solutions were: 1. Open another account with them, which I absolutely do not want to do. 2. Physically travel to a branch to receive a cashier’s check. They refuse to mail the check to me. That means I am now expected to drive approximately 45 minutes each way, once again, because this bank apparently cannot mail a cashier’s check or provide another reasonable method for returning my money. To summarize: when my business debit card was compromised, First National Bank left me without practical access to my business funds for weeks, refused to provide a temporary card, charged fees while I was recovering from major surgery, closed the account, and now refuses to mail me the remaining funds that were deposited into it. This has been one of the most unnecessarily difficult and inflexible banking experiences I have ever had. I cannot recommend First National Bank to any small-business owner, especially one whose business relies on digital payments and online systems. Run like hell from these people.

I applied for a HELOC and I constantly had to follow up with the bank every couple weeks to get updates. They took information from my tax return and the bank can't (or won't) explain why their numbers are incorrect. Nearly 6 months later they still can't explain why their numbers don't match my tax return, nor can they explain how they are calculating it on their end. Avoid.
