Disappointed by the lack of knowledge by the staff here when coming to pick up a power auto loan check. Was supposed to be an easy process, instead was turn away. Immediately drove to the nearest Cary location and was in and out in 5 minutes with my check.

I found this branch of State Employees Credit Union to be quite helpful. We spoke with a mortgage officer who walked us through the website and then some of the home buying process and gave us recommendations. They have pretty competitive interest rates for their mortgages and for their money market and CDs so this is a good Branch if you need to get any banking done. I also found that they were able to do a large transfer effortlessly i just needed to write a check and then hand it to the teller, signed the paper, and then it was done.

Stephanie Overton was phenomenal!! She helped me out and gave me great insight into more services I could take advantage of as well as help with my business loan. She’s one of the good one and very down to earth. Give her a raise immediately!!

This was by far the worst SECU branch experience I’ve had, and I’ve been a member for over 12 years.
The issues started with a phone call regarding an auto loan that had already been approved. I called because I needed to have my loan check printed. The representative i spoke with (Diana or Barbara) informed me there would be approximately a 45-minute wait and that there was no guarantee I could be seen, but that I was welcome to come in and wait. Based on that information, I decided to make the trip.
When I arrived, the same representative immediately told me that I would not be able to be helped that day at 4:00pm. This was frustrating because that information could have been provided during my phone call just minutes earlier. It was around 4:10PM at the time, and I felt my time had been wasted. Barbara was arguing with me and the gentleman had to step in because of her attitude and proceed to tell Barbara “it’s ok ms Barbara” as if she’s the one being mistreated.
Thankfully he stepped in, asked me to have a seat, and said they would try to fit me in. His professionalism and willingness to help were greatly appreciated. Within about five minutes, I was called back to meet with a loan officer.
Unfortunately, that interaction was equally disappointing. The loan officer seemed unwilling to assist me and appeared to dismiss my request before even reviewing my information. Her attitude came across as unprofessional and unwelcoming.
I understand that everyone has demanding jobs and busy days, but customer service matters, especially in a member-focused organization. As a longtime member, I expected to be treated with courtesy and respect.
Because of this experience, I will be taking my business to another SECU branch, even if it means driving farther. I value working with employees who are willing to assist members and provide the level of customer service that SECU is known for.
