- AAAbraham AliMar 4, 20261.0I have a joint account with my husband and recently deposited a $5 check that was written to him into our shared account. Instead of contacting me as the account holder, the bank called my husband to “verify” the deposit, which makes absolutely no sense because we both legally own the account. What makes this even worse is that during the call the teller did not properly verify my husband’s identity before discussing the transaction. No security questions or identity verification were performed before accessing account information. That is a serious failure of basic banking security procedures. Because of this careless handling of customer information and poor verification practices, I have filed a formal complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regarding this incident.
