  If you miss a payment, you have to pay in cash at a kiosk for no reason other than a punishment

  Horrible customer service. Try to force you to speak to automative systems before you get rude reps. Overcharging customers meanwhile the system is crappy and outdated. I’ve literally never had a good experience with DTE ever. I could see if I was someone who did not pay my bill but I do and I hate they are the only electric company around.

  Have been notified THREE times now that power has been restored in my building when it definitely has not. The last notification said there was no outage detected and wouldn’t even let me and my neighbors report that we still didn’t have power on their online platform- I had to call their after hours number and wait to speak to a real person to let them know our entire complex was still out. It’s now been 80 hours without power. Some of my neighbors are elderly and require electricity for their medical devices and had to go to family and friends homes far away, only to return home THINKING they had power because that’s what DTE notified them without ever confirming. Rates go up every year while service becomes substantially more abysmal.
