Flagstar Bank, FSB as an entity has absolutely disappointed me during this entire new bank account process— but Alexis from this branch specifically fixed my two month issue in under 10 minutes AND provided a follow up email. I opened an account months ago and Flagstar still hadn’t shipped out my debit card despite trying to request it. I went into the branch and Alexis was polite and attentive to me as well as her other customer. She heard my issue, expedited it to the branch manager, and provided me with an update in 10 minutes. I appreciate Alexis for fixing this problem and for her inviting spirit. Keep her around as she’s a great asset to your branch.

Flagstar Bank Review — Michigan Ave. & Greenfield I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Flagstar Bank located on Michigan Avenue and Greenfield Road on Wednesday, August 26, around 11:30 a.m. I went through the drive-through on my lunch break to cash a $2,500 employer-issued check from someone who banks with Flagstar. The teller reviewed my check and identification and then told me they could not verify the signature on the check. I was instructed to drive to the Taylor Flagstar location, where I was told the check had originated. What made this experience even more frustrating was that the teller had already taken my information and told me the Taylor branch manager had been provided with my information and was expecting me. I was never asked to come inside the Michigan Avenue location so that the situation could be further verified. Instead, I was redirected to another branch. As an African American woman, I left that interaction feeling as though I was being treated as though my check was potentially fraudulent. At the time, I did not realize how concerning the situation was, but after reflecting on the experience—and especially after what happened next—I have serious concerns about whether I was racially profiled. I ultimately had to take approximately two hours away from work to get this situation resolved. I went to another Flagstar location on East Warren, where Anita was absolutely wonderful. She reviewed the SAME check, everything was in order, and she cashed it without an issue. She also provided me with the information to formally file a complaint. My question is simple: If another Flagstar location could review the check and cash it, why was I sent away from the Michigan Avenue location and told I had to drive to Taylor? Why wasn’t I simply asked to come inside and have the check verified there? I have already filed an official complaint with Flagstar regarding this experience. This was extremely inconvenient, unprofessional, and left me feeling uncomfortable and discriminated against. I should not have had to lose two hours of my workday because one branch chose to redirect me instead of properly assisting me. I want Flagstar to take this situation seriously, investigate what happened, and review how customers are being treated at this location. I would strongly encourage other customers—especially Black customers—to pay attention to how they are treated and to speak up if an interaction does not feel right.

I usually don’t like to write feedback about someone but I like the branch and the location, but when I went in for the first time to get service done, I was denied service by the assistant branch leader Holland Plummer, I have an account with Flagstar Bank for a few years. If I go to any bank, although I don’t have an account, they will assist me without any issue to get a notary. When I went to get a notary at the bank, I bank with the assistant branch leader refused to do a notary. She stated my wife was not included in my account. I told her I can go to any bank and they will honor it and do it without any issue. She said we don’t. I told her I have an account with you guys. She said your wife is not included. She got me really mad I ended up going to Comerica bank that I do not bank with and they did the notary without any issue.
