  I am extremely disappointed to say the least. I had a personal account with commonwealth after getting a small loan through them to help with costs after being out of work following a major surgery and I had rarely used that personal account. I had even opened my business account with them for my small business. I had charges posted to that personal account that was basically dormant. My husband and I opened up a joint account for our marital bills to come out of and we had it for about a month(which we will be closing it in the morning ☺️). That personal account that lay dormant I was made aware had a negative balance, I would have more than happily paid it if properly informed and I would have PLANNED for that. I was paid yesterday into that joint account and after w rapid most of our bills for this week and went to get groceries we were going to checkout (it was like 9 pm) and had no issues with our account or using our card that day and last week checked before entering the store we had about $600 in that account, we went to checkout with a big basket full of our groceries for not only my husband and I but our two little, one who has gastrointestinal sensitivities and is special needs and requires certain foods guess what? DECLINED. Which made no sense because the checking had $319 as current. Which I already thought was odd because right before going in the store the account had $600 in it. There were random charges from commonwealth titled “SHARE ACCOUNT CLOSE” and one for $528. This was NOT authorized. I never authorized to close that personal account and I never authorized for any of that. I wasn’t even asked if the charges to that amount on that account were mine. I literally left that account dormant so I’m not sure how it accumulated that. But anyways they will get an earful in the morning. They have no after hours number for these situations. I tried my card, my husbands card, even a check to pay for our groceries. Thank god I have great parents and they were able to help because our bill money was grid locked and all transactions were blocked. So thanks commonwealth for that. They have lost us as customers. I am very upset and disheartened and what they did didn’t just affect me or my husband it affected our children. I don’t reccomend banking here. I have mentioned this situation to friends and family and they all agree it’s fishy. I never authorized charges to equal “-528” and I certainly never authorized it be pulled from my husbands and mine joint account that all of our bills come from. There were no letters, no emails, no notifications, no calls just grid locked our account where we can’t access any of our money. So thank you commonwealth for that.

  This is a very small but mighty and friendly Bank to bank with here in Richmond. Every time I come in the bank, the staff is always very friendly, courteous and courteous to help with anything that we need.
