- PKPharfid KnewgunApr 29, 20261.0They are not open on Saturdays! I stopped in 3 times over 1 year inquiring about loans. All 3 times the loan officer was new and had to look up what I would consider to be basic knowledge for a loan officer. I want my banker to be confident and knowledgeable, otherwise I'll just go through the Internet for my banking needs. We have been with that bank for 32 years (First Federal was great, then bought out by Great Western and they were OK, then bought out by First Interstate which does not have Midwestern values) and this year I finally pulled the plug and went to another bank. The final straw was when the started being closed on Saturdays. On the Saturday that I tried to go to First Interstate and found it they were closed, I went to another bank, opened a checking, savings, credit card and got a HELOC. All on a Saturday! I had tried to get a HELOC with First Interstate the week prior, but the loan officer couldn't even tell me when I could fill out the application because she was so new. In my opinion (that's what this platform is about), they have no where to go but up, so I wish them luck.

I have had not great experiences at some of the other locations but I know I can always count on the people in Ankeny to take care of anything that comes up. I don’t even live in Ankeny anymore, but I will continue to bank with them.

Incompetent young people at the window at the drive-thru. Going to switch over to the great Western in Altoona, Ashley is very competent and willing to help you.
