I opened an account and was able to use it for about three months before it started being compromised by fraud. I had unauthorized Zelle transactions and mobile deposits made that I knew nothing about.
Zelle allowed two fraudulent payments to go through before flagging the third. SouthState also allowed one fraudulent mobile deposit to post and then closed my account, even though I was physically in Florida while my debit card was being used in Georgia.
Overall, this was extremely disappointing. Please be very careful with your login information. If you use SouthState, be aware that hackers are a real issue, and the bank may still close your account even when the fraud was not your fault.

ATM is broken. Wouldn't let us enter a pin and kept giving errors. when we finally got to the withdrawal page and attempted to withdrawal it just kept printing receipts and asking for a pin

I decided to open an account with this bank because my other (federal) bank couldn't solve the constant problems with online access to my account for three years. It's a wonder why I waited so long to get the problem resolved and didn't try to just switch banks. South State Bank turned out to be a great place with great people. I was assisted in opening my account by Jorge. He made the whole process extremely quick and easy. Jorge explained every step and after half an hour I had fully working online access to my account in the app. There are no words to describe how I feel. Honestly, I am extremely happy!
