  Recommendation Score: 0 — Not at all likely Primary reason for my score: My experience with PNC Bank has been extremely disappointing, unfair, and unacceptable. I would absolutely not recommend PNC Bank to a friend or family member based on the way I was treated and the manner in which my banking relationship was terminated. PNC closed my account without giving me what I believe was a legitimate, reasonable, or adequately explained cause. I was left feeling as though I was being treated differently and unfairly, and I have serious concerns that discrimination and racial bias may have played a role in how my situation was handled. I should not have to question whether I was treated differently because of my race. What makes this experience even more disturbing is that PNC also provided information concerning an alleged overdraft that I dispute. I believe the information provided to me regarding the overdraft was inaccurate, and I was extremely frustrated that PNC appeared to rely on information that I do not believe was truthful or properly supported when making decisions about my account. If a financial institution is going to close a customer’s account, the customer deserves accurate information, fair treatment, transparency, and an opportunity to understand what happened. Instead, my experience left me feeling dismissed, disrespected, and unfairly targeted. I have lost confidence in PNC Bank because I do not believe I was treated fairly or given a satisfactory explanation for what occurred. A bank should not make a customer feel powerless when serious decisions are being made concerning their financial relationship. I strongly recommend that PNC investigate this matter internally, including how my account was handled, the basis for the account closure, the accuracy of the alleged overdraft, and whether I was treated differently from similarly situated customers. I also believe PNC should review whether its policies and employees are being applied consistently and without racial discrimination. Based on this experience, I would not recommend PNC Bank to anyone. My experience has seriously damaged my trust in the institution.

  I closed my account with them because after both my mom and dad passed I need to take out a loan to cover funeral expenses and even though I’d been banking with them since before they were PNC and my check from work every week was deposited in my account over 1,000 a week and I never over drawn my account they refused to cash A 2,000 check for me told they would hold it for 5 days or charge me a percentage to have the funds immediately. They are heartless and when I complained the customer service lady just said so would you like to pay the what ever percent I can’t remember the exact amount or would you like to wait 5 days. I said nope I’d like to just my account with y’all. She said you’ll need to schedule an appointment and wait for any pending with drawls. I could understand had I been a new customer but I started banking with bbva in 2016 and transitioned into PNC. I do not recommend this bank

  This bank is a pain in the butt to deal with. I tried to close an account over a 2 month period and went inside the bank a total of 4 times at 2 different locations. What should have been an easy process in my opinion was made very very difficult. I never received checks when it changed to PNC from BVAA and they kept telling me I had to write a check for the balance to close it. FINALLY, on my 3rd in person visit, and taking 1 1/2 hours, we got the withdrawal, leaving $3 in for the service fee so it would zero out. I was told to call a number after the service fee zeroed the balance to officially close the account. I did this and the lady on phone said they couldn't close it over the phone. OMG! So, back to the bank and waiting to speak to same person who helped before and then getting pawned off onto someone new who wanted me to start from the beginning. NO! Save yourself a hassle filled headache and stay away from this bank. I loved it when it was Compass and BVAA, but not PNC! If I could give 0 stars I would.
