  I rarely leave negative reviews unless an experience is completely unacceptable, but my experience with California Bank & Trust has been beyond ridiculous. I received a official marketing letter from California Bank & Trust inviting me to open a business checking account. After gathering all the required business documents, I visited the Arcadia branch in person. To my disbelief, the staff told me they couldn't open an account for me because the person who handles account openings was not there. How does a bank open its doors for business when staff members capable of opening accounts aren't even present? They suggested I go to the Alhambra branch instead. Wanting to confirm before making another trip, I called the Alhambra location. A representative named Connie answered and told me that a company must be in business for at least two years to open a business checking account. This is the most absurd requirement I have ever heard of for a basic business checking account. It is clear that the bank’s executive and marketing teams are spending real money sending out promotional offers to business owners to attract new clients. Yet, the front-line branch employees turn prospective customers away with ridiculous excuses and incompetence in a single sentence. I understand smaller regional banks have limitations, but this level of service is completely unacceptable. No matter how hard the marketing department works, lazy or incompetent staff will ensure you lose new business before it even starts. I sincerely hope senior management sees this review and addresses the operational issues at these local branches.

  Bank with very poor service! The staff inside are very grumpy! Never seen such poor service!

  My hope is that CB&T as a whole is better than this branch. I scheduled an appointment online. Arrived the Branch 10 mins early and waited for someone to approach me. No one was ion the Branch. Took about 15 mins before someone asked if I needed assistance. I said I had scheduled an appt online with a Connie Wong. They said she isn't in this week and I would need to come back next week. i was frustrated and said I booked an appt and wasn't there someone else who could assist me. I had all the standard docs I usually take to open an account - currently bank with Chase, Wells Fargo and Citibank - and was asked for docs I had never even heard of. Guy had to get on the phone with their back office and they said we needed a set of docs that was different than he said I needed. Needless to say I left frustrated - went down the street and opened the account with Wells Fargo.
