  I was with this company for about two years. Every step was like pulling teeth, but you know how it is overcoming the inertia to leave. Tax season this year is what finally did it. It turns out they had not been filing my business’s quarterly taxes, nor sending the monthly reports I asked for time and time and time and time again. That is the bare minimum of what a financial services company exists to do. File quarterly taxes, provide monthly reports, and contact me via my preferred contact method when there is an issue or something they need from me to fulfill their side of the agreement. They are nearly impossible to reach by phone, so after a string of dead-end voicemails I drove down there in person and waited in the lobby till the owner Brian Patterson was back from an hour lunch. I directly asked what exactly I was paying him for. After a few volleys of trying to pass the buck onto me, he caved and said he would “contact the person who manages my QuickBooks to make sure she has the right email address for me” (a woman I have never met in two years of being a client and who I have told time and time again to contact me via phone call). Meanwhile my wife, relatively unbeknownst to all this, had sent Brian all of her tax documents plus some supporting documents for me well ahead of the deadline. He wrote back to state that they “had a lot going on and wouldn’t be able to file our taxes by the deadline, but it’s okay because I already filed an extension for you.” He filed an extension on someone else’s return without asking and presented it as a favor. You know why I left my last accountant before these people? The guy and his staff were do-nothings who didn’t pick up the phone and didn’t file my tax paperwork on time. Brian knows (knew?) about this. I told him about it at our first meeting. There are a hundred other accountants in Huntsville. Heed my review and take a chance on one of them. I am profoundly disappointed that I entrusted my finances to these people. I don’t want a phone call from them, I don’t want a reconciliation, I don’t want an apology. I unlinked them from my Quickbooks and we’ll go our separate ways. I’ve said all I need to say the last time we talked in person.
