I have financed and leased vehicles through Credit Union of Texas/FairLease since 2018, and historically the experience has been excellent. Unfortunately, my most recent attempt to work with them has been extremely disappointing. Communication has been inconsistent to the point of being unworkable. Days often pass without any updates or acknowledgment of inquiries, and even when I proactively reach out for a status update on the loan, there is still no response. This level of communication is far below what I’ve experienced with any financial institution. It is especially unfortunate given how strong their service used to be. My representative this time was John Tatum, whom I’ve worked with previously. However, the lack of responsiveness throughout this process made it clear that continuing with FairLease was not in my best interest. As a result, I chose to just abort mission. I wish their team was prompt, communicative, and professional -- without the delays or runaround, like once upon a time. 😔

My experience with Credit Union of Texas has been frustrating mainly because of the constant fees and lack of clear support. They charge about $6.00 every month in service fees, $5.00 for transfers, if savings covers checking when funds run low. There are also small charges for using your card and withdrawals, usually $3.00 to $5.00. After doing the math, I realized I was paying about $240 a year in fees, and I was with them for 4 years. Thats was $960 just in petty service fees! When I closed my account, they left it at -$5.00. I had to go back in to ask why. I spoke with Sandra and was told it was a technical issue on their end and that I would receive an email that day to fix it, but I never received anything. Now I have to keep following up with them them until this is resolved to avoid any negative impacts this might have on me later. In the past, the app also allowed messaging for support, but that feature was removed. Now it is very hard to get someone on the phone, and in many cases you have to go in person to a branch. That is very inconvenient, especially since they do not have many locations left. Overall, the fees, poor follow through, and limited access to support made the experience disappointing.

My experience with CUTX. You are not able to call in an discuss your account. They make you make an appointment for a phone conversation. The gentlemen I spoke with did not understand why on one screen it said my HELOC payment was $3,400 and on the pay screen it was $3,650. If you make more than the above dollar amount payment you can not make another payment on the online system with in the billing cycle, even if waiting makes you late on your bill. They will be happy to charge the late fees though. I was told I could drive to a branch and make a payment, so I did. The branch rep asked if I was paying Cash or Check. I said my bank debit card. She said we don't take that, only cash or check. I thought what was this the 1980's. So I had to call in again, they want me to make a phone appointment, to make the pay my bill because I have exceeded the amount they let you pay in 30days. Then charge $18 because I called to make a payment. I don't know why anybody would want to do business with this company. They suck at systems, customer service. Don't use them.

I do not believe deleting this review altogether is warranted as they requested. I will soften it though. Accomplishing simple things with CUTX is incredibly difficult. You cannot resolve simple customer service matters without an appointment, and you cannot do basic things online like you can at other establishments For numerous reasons, I would not recommend using CUTX. Your experience may vary though.
