Very difficult bank to deal with. I have loans with them and I wish that I didnt. They have changed the way to pay them several times over the loan. Very annoying.

The staff at this location are very friendly and very helpful but CUTX as a whole is something I’m not happy about. I’ve been a member since November 2022 and I was happy to have an account with them along with being new in the area. Up until I noticed that back office had restricted my Zelle, bill pay, external transfer feature and mobile deposit. I called member service to ask if I can have them back on. I was told that I can’t have that feature back due to not having direct deposit and that I had a charged-off from another financial institution. I’m not sure why one of the member services representative explained to me that I didn’t have direct deposit into the account but I’ve been having direct deposit going into the account since it was opened. Months later, they restricted my ATM deposit to where I can’t make deposits at the ATM. I was disappointed and I called member services and was able to have that feature back on. Not only that, I was able to have my Zelle back on but after been trying to have my other features back, I was told no and they still wouldn’t give me a reason. All of this making me want to closing my account and switched to another financial institutions. I am not likely the service I’ve received, Every time I called member services, it always a long hold time. I don’t use their bill pay because it cost monthly use it. I had On The Spot Loan and I had a horrible experience with the loan department and one the representative was rude and dismissive. After I been a member here, they started increasing their fees. Not happy that they will send you a text message explaining non-usage debit card will close the card down if I had 10 days to use it. As of right now, I’m not sure on rather or not if I still want to keep my account opened. But I don’t deserve to treat like this especially when you new bank in the area.

My fiancé lost her debit card on her way out of town and called numerous times to ask what her options were. Nobody answered the phone at all. So, I went by in person to ask if they could give her a call, verify our identities, and issue a new card to me so that I could bring it to her. They acted as if I were there to rob the place and handled it all in a very unprofessional manner. I later tried to call and discuss this with a manager, and was met with the same issue, absolutely no answer. I left 2 messages requesting that they contact me, to zero avail. This could have easily turned into them signing me up for a new account, as that would've worked as a solution to our problem, and they had all of the information to come to this conclusion, but instead they chose to treat me like a criminal. Worst banking experience EVER. I went around the corner to her other credit union, East Texas Professional, where they were very respectful and helpful. They provided a solution to the issue at hand and graciously accepted my large deposit. They'll be who we both bank with, moving forward. Oh, and they also answer the phone.

ZERO STARS. Make absolutely sure you meet all of CUTX’s requirements before attempting to open an account. I recently moved from Central Texas and needed a new local bank. After reviewing their options, I thought CUTX would work for me. However, I was denied a checking account because I couldn’t provide proof of residency—my utilities are in my partner’s name, and my ID address hasn’t been updated yet. Fair enough. The issue is what happened next: I went to VeraBank, which doesn't require proof of residency, only to be told that CUTX had flagged me—due to an address discrepancy and some unrelated asset issues—causing VeraBank to restrict my account options to only one, with a $9.99/month fee. NOPE! So now I’m stuck with the only option of paying a monthly fee because CUTX flagged me, even though I never even opened an account with them. I didn't even sign anything. One star for negatively impacting my banking options over something that should’ve been a simple task and fix. I did not go with VeraBank either. It is almost as if they prevented me from finding other suitable options on purpose.
