My loan is now completely paid off, but what’s happened since then has been an absolute nightmare. When I first came in, I had a Michigan title, and I was told that once my loan was paid off, the title would be sent back to LoanStar, not to the address on my title. I was also told they would contact me once they received my title so I could come pick it up. After paying off my loan, I called for three weeks straight asking about it, and no one ever mentioned that the title had already been mailed out, or that it had gone to my old Michigan address, where someone else now lives. Because the employees gave me incorrect information, my title ended up in the wrong hands. From there, everything went downhill. I spent weeks calling multiple times each week trying to get answers. Jennifer told me she’d talk to the manager, who was supposed to contact the Michigan Secretary of State. After waiting for 2–3 weeks, I was finally told they could just issue a lien release so I could get a new title from the DMV. When I called the DMV, they informed me I’d need my original Michigan title for that process, something LoanStar should’ve known from the start. When I called back to explain this, Jennifer’s only response was “Really?” I also asked what happened with the manager’s call to Michigan, and she said the manager “wasn’t in,” even though I had been told that was being handled weeks ago. After over two months of going in circles, I finally got a call back, for the first time ever, just to be told the exact same thing Michigan had already told me when I called myself, that phone call with Michigan was 4.5 hours mind you. Now I have to wait another 2–3 weeks for the title to arrive in the mail and pay $35 plus postage fees because of their mistake. This whole experience has been extremely frustrating, unprofessional, and time consuming. The employees clearly lack proper training and communication, and they constantly ask customers for five-star reviews, which probably explains the inflated ratings online. I will never return to LoanStar Title Loans, and neither will my friends or family.
