The bank was organized by a group of Putnam County residents looking for a true community bank. The organizers wanted a bank where customers could still be treated like family and were they could interact with someone capable of making a decision at a local level. Putnam 1st Mercantile Bank offers a full line of banking services and has recently expanded into the Baxter area with the opening of its third branch location.
