About

Credit Union
Rhode Island Credit Union has experienced many changes throughout our history. The Board and Management have continued to respond to industry changes in an effort to keep up with an ever changing financial and technological market. Our unique business model where credit union members are the owners of the institution proves to be as effective today as it was in 1946 when Rhode Island Credit Union was founded. The idea of serving only the needs of credit union members, not distant shareholders is what guides our decision-making process. It is inevitable that changes will be made from time to time to keep the Credit Union viable and competitive. Like every other business, we adapt to the business realities of our time. Even as changes happen, we will continue to work hard to maintain our commitment to personal service and our dedication to strengthening the outstanding relationships with our existing and future members in the communities we serve.

I can only speak about the Cranston branch, but they are just exceptional. All of the employees are courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. In the impersonal world of banking, it is so wonderful to be greeted with a smile. I went into the bank today because I had a problem with online banking that was not resolved by calls to the main office. Tami Jackvony assured me that she would get it resolved - and she did! She listened so well, made several phone call and made sure, before I left, that the problem was solved.

Horrible experience here. I came in to inquire about an Auto Loan & update my information. Gina pulled my credit BEFORE telling me so or before I signed any paperwork. I feel mistreated here & will never do business here again. Horrible practice, I reported her practice to the Credit Bureau because she does not explain anything, “We’ll get back to that later”. She just says whatever & hopes it sticks

I just called them back about my inquiry to be pre-approved for a loan. Spoke with Abby who had the worst demeanor I have ever encountered from a call like this. I asked for their email to submit the lengthy list of attachments they asked for and she told me everything has to be fax or in-person drop off. I said that makes me not want to do business with them and she said, “Okay, great” and hung up on me. Impressions matter and this was not a good start!

This location judges you based on how you look. I’ve been to the Providence location plenty of times and have never had an issue. I walked in today at the cranston branch and the “head” teller, Lisa, stares at me awkwardly for 10 seconds before calling me over. As i approached the desk she tells me to remove my hat. At that point i already felt like something was off. I took it off respectfully and told her i needed to cash a check. She told me she wouldn’t be able to cash my check because rodriguez was missing from my check (a check from the US Treasury that i receive as a retirement pension monthly and gets changed by the providence location without hassle). I asked for her name proceeded to leave. I had to drive to the providence location, 20 mins out of my way, to have it changed there. After they changed my check there, i received a call from the manager from the Cranston location, Tammy, who went out of her way to notate my account to make sure my check can never be cashed at a bank that I CHOSE to bank with. Thanks Tammy, i will no longer use your location or my savings account with RICU ever again. Once im done paying my loan i will close the account. Customer service review rating in google was not shocking at all after my experience.

Stacy the manager has wasted my time potentially lose a $20,000 deal because I didn’t have a prefix on my account but the bank let me withdraw over $10,000 in the last three weeks but today I couldn’t withdraw 6500 so I had to have my wife show up and withdraw for me Even though they have my name on the account signature is approved they did not make an executive decision and they caused a very deal of inconvenience someone should be fired you should start with the leader Stacy pretty sure it was a prejudice thing
