Edit to the owner. I am not on Facebook or Twitter. Try showing this review to fancy suit who was working the lobby as a greeter on Saturday November 8th at your Walnut street location in Shadyside. My partner is a member of PNC. We went in around 11 on a Saturday to deposit some coins into his bank account. There was a fancy suit wandering around greeting people, (not sure what his job is) and he gave him some paper to roll his own coins? Why doesn’t the bank have this ability? It’s legal tender. So we roll up the coins as best we can, not filling up two or three entirely. He goes to the teller and he was very kind and was going to help him (my partner) out and deposit the coins. Then over comes fancy suit needing to feel important and denies my partners transaction. The teller was visibly shaking after guy comes over. Again, my partner is a member of this bank and was made to feel like his money wasn’t good enough. We felt bad for the tellers as it seems like fancy suit is a bully. Thinking of taking our money elsewhere, but also thinking PNC only cares about a certain class of person, so perhaps we’ll be doing them a favor.

Winter on Walnut Street in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood offers a uniquely refined and tranquil experience that stands apart from the busier seasons. While summer might bring festivals like "Jam on Walnut" and open-air crowds, winter strips everything back to the essentials—inviting you to slow down and notice the quiet elegance of the neighborhood. Bare trees, frost-laced shop windows, and the muffled soundscape created by snowy sidewalks make for an almost cinematic setting. This is a street for thoughtful wandering, where you can dip in and out of warm, inviting storefronts—ranging from high-end fashion to independent bookshops and specialty bakeries. Even if you aren’t shopping, the window displays alone feel like curated art, especially when viewed through the soft lens of winter light. Dining options are also elevated by the season. The cozy interiors of spots like Girasole or La Feria offer a sense of warmth and escape, with hearty, comfort-filled menus that pair beautifully with the chill outside. Coffee shops become not just a caffeine stop but an essential part of the experience, offering a place to thaw out and take in the calm atmosphere. The PNC bank right on this walnut street offers really good service with patient staff in it and it has multiple ATMs outside it, which is really convenient on this street. In winter, Walnut Street reveals its quieter soul—more introspective, stylish, and personal. It’s the perfect urban retreat for anyone seeking a peaceful, charming escape that still feels connected to Pittsburgh’s rich culture and community.
