  I came in to get quarters and a lady greeted me and asked what I was there for. I told her quarters and she sent me to way of teller. I reached the teller and tell her that I would like to have quarters in which she asked me to present my debit card. I don’t have an account with PNC anymore. It was closed when I lost my job. At any rate, she proceeded to tell me that I needed an account to get quarters to which my reply was that the previous lady told me I could get some. She proceeded to say that she would give them to me today, but for future reference, they will not give me quarters without an account and then offered to open one for me, even if just to get changed and she giggled. So here’s my take on that… I have cash and a bank is where the quarters are. It was my thought process that cash for cash at a bank is good and that the only thing you should need an account for at a bank is to get a check cashed. But don’t even get me started on banks. Bottom line is I used to rave about PNC but I will no longer do that after today.

  Gretchen from the PNC branch in Lititz went above and beyond helping me to find and identify an extensive amount of information I needed about my account and transaction history. She is an excellent example of why banking local with personal support and service is so important, even in a world where everything is increasingly available online.   This location only has one drive thru tube and since you can only go through the drive through be ready to wait in line for an hour or more. No other branch close by to go to either since the branch in Manheim was closed and the satellite branch in Giant closed.

  The staff is wonderful at this branch, and the location is conveniently located in Lititz. I drove a full size SUV & the drive-thru is not accessible from the middle lane because it is too narrow. I understand that this isn’t an easy fix and do not fault the bank, just a warning to those driving wide vehicles.
