Update #3: Just came back to say that Civista lost my second mortgage. They sold it, which is normal and was expected, but they insisted that they sold it to a company that had no record of me or my mortgage. I eventually had to go find the company that held the mortgage myself and then had to confirm this with Civista. Sounds like there was some bug in the records system that just showed the mortgage being with an unrelated company? Update #2: I've experienced several other issues with my Civista mortgages and am no longer able to recommend them to anyone. 1) The loan officer lied about fees that would be charged on the loan. I was told that there would be no origination charges. When I received the contract, origination fees were listed at $1,260. When I asked him about this, his response was that it wasn't a lie because all banks charge these fees. 2) Because the website is so poorly built, there were multiple times that I approved an autopayment, but they didn't take it because I didn't know I needed to approve it again somewhere else. They would get upset with me for the payment not going through. 3) When the escrow amount went up, they did not change my autopay amount, nor was there any notice that I needed to. This first communication I received was the notice that my account was overdue. 4) I recently emailed support with a question and they refused to help me, insisting that I needed to call and verify information. When I called, they simply looked up my account and offered to email me the information I needed. I can only assume that the email team didn't feel like answering my question and it was easier to send me to the phone team. Update: We did indeed work through the issue together, and the problem was solved promptly. Thanks for being so friendly and helpful when I called. My only remaining complaint is that the online services are so lacking. I would encourage anyone who prefers to do business over the phone to consider Civista, and those that prefer to do business online to consider other options. Original: My mortgage payment was drafted successfully when due, but it was returned because Civista didn't give my bank any information about where the money was going, so the transfer seemed like fraud. I received no notification from Civista until I got the 'overdue' notice and a late fee had already been applied. Although it took some persistence, the chat people were able to help me push the payment through, (the second try didn't work) but the only way to talk to someone about the late fee is by phone, which is not a good method for me. I expect any modern business to have, at least, an email address. I recognize that the experience could have been much worse, but I also would not have taken the mortgage with Civista if I had expected this experience.

Couldn’t be less helpful in getting in my refund to me. DIRECTLY FROM THE IRS, this is where my refund is being held, not SBTPG as they like to claim
