Two stars for the polite new employees, just starting out wanting to make a good impression. This review is not a reflection on them, they did the best they could within their confines.
While looking for a better bank, we decided to give PNC a try and moved our money to this bank from one across the street, where we were tired of the predatory practices, next to no interest on savings and the ever changing rules on accounts. We tried PNC to find out it's no better. We also noticed that after a 3 month period they started to deduct a $10,00 per month service fee. For those needing to call in, good luck being able to speak to a human being, if able to speak to a human, you will probably be transferred at least twice before speaking to anyone with the authority and information to do anything. Be prepared to spend at least 25 minutes on the phone. If you get tired of the shenanigans, service fees etc, and go in to close your account in person make sure you make an appointment.... : /
If we find a decent local bank we'll post back...

Completely useless bank. Closed my account for NO REASON. Love how I deposited money to get my account going, had problems using MY MONEY, then a week or so later I'm informed over telephone that my account is closed. That's how you do business huh? U-S-E-L-E-S-S. Love how they'll take anybody in to sign up but when it comes to using YOUR money, OH heaven forbid.

incredibly awful customer service, whether in person or by phone. Multiple visits and problems. Don't do business with this bank, at least with this branch or with the mortgage division. We submitted paperwork to have direct mortgage payments made, verified the correctness with staff at the branch, and still received dunning notices and daily harassing phone calls-- all due to a problem within their system. Finally had to pay off the mortgage to resolve the problem, and even after that, received more dunning notices and for several weeks. Branch staff had no significant ability to help with this problem.
On another occasion, waited to deposit a check at the same branch, only to be directed to, then ignored by, senior staff who were training a new window employee, no other customers waiting. Finally just walked out.

I would have given RBC a 5 start review before they merged with PNC. The folks there were really great. We had been doing personal and business banking with them for over 20 years through more than 1 merger. Ont the day that PNC took over, it was like the Nazis had arrived. Without warning important rules for how our deposits were processed and other critical items were changed. Our friendly tellers that had worded with us for years were replaced with a new set that were trained to say no. It was pretty clear to me that the message was for the small business owner that makes a deposit each day, we do not want your business. I can respect the fact that banks are going to tune there services to the businesses they want, but after years of banking with RBC, I would have liked some warning so I could get out before Hitler took over...These folks are definitely not small business friendly. Needless to say we are moving to a new bank.
