If you’re handling estates, I’d strongly recommend avoiding the Lillington branch—unless Hannah is available.
I went there on Monday to close an account and was told by a banker (dark hair, glasses—unfortunately didn’t get her name) that I needed a specific form stating the account was “closed” in order to proceed. Even though estate personnel had previously told me otherwise, I followed the banker’s instructions.
When I arrived at my estate appointment, I was told the opposite—that I should have been able to close the account first, and the estate paperwork comes afterward. The estate representative even called Truist directly; after being put on hold, she was told they'll call her back, and she documented clear instructions for the banker along with her business card in case there were issues (she sent me to Truist).
Back at the branch, however, the banker still insisted she couldn’t help me and said she had other appointments. When I asked if anyone else could assist, she simply said “no.”
To be clear, the atmosphere at this branch is not what it used to be—it no longer feels friendly or helpful. I left frustrated because the banker made a mistake, knew it, and yet made no effort to correct it.
As I was walking out, I asked where the lady who was always smiling had gone, and another employee (tall, white woman) responded with “she’s not here anymore.” I found it odd that she immediately knew exactly which Black woman I meant without further clarification—something that left me with questions of its own.
I'm now currently at Angiers branch and being seen quickly, and able to do what is needed.
