I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding my experience with the Flagstar branch located at 33390 W 14 Mile Rd, West Bloomfield, MI 48322, which is managed by Judy.
I maintained a relationship with Flagstar for approximately one year, during which two of my accounts were opened incorrectly. This issue was later confirmed by another Flagstar branch manager, who explained that the accounts should never have been opened without the proper documentation.
When I visited the Waterford location, the branch manager there took the time to review my situation thoroughly, explained the errors made during account opening, and contacted Judy directly to clarify the matter, as she was the individual who originally opened the account. During this call, Judy questioned whether she was on speaker and then stated that I had been going from branch to branch attempting to withdraw funds. This characterization was misleading, as I was advised by Judy herself to visit another branch to complete a larger withdrawal after she declined to process it.
At the West Bloomfield branch, Judy refused to process the requested withdrawal amount and limited me to receiving only $10,000, despite the fact that the account was being closed due to it not being properly opened as a business account. I am a business owner earning well into six figures annually, and I requested a larger lump-sum withdrawal to access my own funds in a timely manner.
Legal and back-office teams confirmed that there was no fraud involved—only improper documentation at the time of account opening, which should have been addressed by the branch manager at inception. During the call with the Waterford branch manager, Judy stated, “You don’t have to give her anything if you don’t want to—just send her on her way.” As a result, I spent an entire day being inconvenienced and felt as though I was being denied reasonable access to my own funds without valid justification.
Additionally, I was never clearly informed that my account was going to be closed; instead, I was repeatedly told it was “under review,” which was misleading and prevented me from responding appropriately.
This experience demonstrated a lack of professionalism, transparency, and accountability. While I understand banks must exercise caution regarding fraud and compliance, clients—especially business owners—deserve honest communication and respectful treatment. Unfortunately, this was not my experience at this branch.
I am deeply disappointed and would not recommend conducting business at this location. I hope Flagstar takes this feedback seriously and reviews this matter to prevent similar experiences for other customers.

Have had accounts there since it opened, maybe 20 years. First ten, pretty terrific, like you would expect from a neighborhood bank. Last few years...awful. With the exception of one familiar person, everytime I go in, I do not recognize one person. I feel like a stranger in a bank I have used for a very long time. I am probably switching to Comerica which is located between me and Flagstar. Because the employees are always new, nobody is friendly, no one is in the manager's office when I go there, and with the exception of Judy, the asst. manager, who is great but not there all the time, this place sucks!
