  This review is about Flagstar corporate, not branch employees. I have a power of attorney for my son and tried to use it last fall to cash his stimulus check. Flagstar legal told me I had to write a new POA document with a special paragraph stating I had the authority to cash his checks. So I had an entirely new POA doc created even though the first 4 page POA was for authority to conduct financial business for my son. Even after creating a new POA with a dedicated paragraph stating I had authority to cash checks, open and close banking and credit union accounts the branch then told me I could not cash his check, cut could open an account in his name. To the teller's credit she cashed the check. Fast forward to most recent stimulus check, I go into to branch to open an account and they tell me they have to check with legal. I then get a call saying they would cash it but I couldn't open an account in his name. .I wait a week, and call the branch to find out what is going on and after a half an hour they call me back approving the opening of an account. My criticism here is that branch managers seemingly have no authority or no ability to make basic banking decisions for customers. No blame on the tellers here, only praise for them.
