VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ALLSTATE RESPRESENTATIVE
On August 22, 2023, I had a scheduled appointment with Markita McNair, Allstate Personal Financial Representative, Waldorf, MD. The first red flag; she no showed and did not call to provide an explanation. I had to reach out to her business partner Dexter Greene, Allstate Agent, Baltimore, MD., to locate her. Once she was located, I informed her that I wanted life insurance for an elderly relative. I provided the requested information timely.
On November 9, 2023, Markita sent an email to notify me that additional health information was requested. I didn’t see the email until December 8, 2023. I responded to Markita’s email immediately and submitted the health care provider’s information to Markita. I also called Markita on December 12, 2023, because she never confirmed receipt of my email. Markita said, “as per our conversation on the 12th, they (insurance provider) will continue to process the application even though the premium was returned, now it’s just a waiting game.”
On December 14, 2023, Markita sent an email requesting the health care provider’s information which I had already submitted to her on December 8, 2023. On December 18, 2023, I received a letter from the insurance provider that the application process was discontinued. Markita failed to inform me.
Due to my lack of judgment, when Markita no showed the initial appointment, I should have cancelled the meeting swiftly. Instead, I decided to take a risk and conduct a business transaction with someone who was unprofessional from the beginning. It was my responsibility to respond to Markita’s email on November 9, 2023, but there was no follow up, text message, phone call, or any other method to confirm receipt of her email requesting additional information.
Markita prides herself on knowing local families and understanding the people in the community. Markita claims to take a hand holding, motherly approach to financial services. She goes on to say, “knowing the people helps her provide customers with an outstanding level of service”. Markita did not provide an outstanding level of service. Markita provided a substandard level of service, one which I would not recommend to any of my family or friends to experience.
Allstate has been my insurance provider for many years. Due to this experience, I am considering other insurance providers because Markita has managed to negatively impact my decision to continue to conduct business with Allstate.
