I went in today to set up a premier money market account for second mortgage funds/long term savings I’ve secured elsewhere. The first thing Melissa says to me, “Yeah, I recognized you from when you met with me in December to discuss loan options and debt consolidation.”
This was said with implied sarcasm and snark.
“What rate did they give you?”
- “we could’ve done better”
“What kind of perks/rewards did they offer?”
- “We could’ve given you cash out.”
“You can refinance with us in two years.”
With the enthusiasm of a spoiled sack of potatoes, Melissa berated me three separate times in the course of getting my new account set up. She just doesn’t get it. In an industry where everybody is selling the same product, it comes down to selling yourself/the company you represent. This is what sales is. Her demeanor is why I never returned after our meeting in December and her attitude today firmed up my initial perception. I’ve been a customer of PNC for close to 20 years but I really don’t know why I still bank there. These employees MUST be working on commission with a sales strategy that is strictly product focused and not customer service based, just trunk slammers.
Unfortunately I could not react fast enough. I told myself if she brought it up one more time I was going to cancel and walk out. Unfortunately, by the time she brought it up the third time the account was already live.
Historically, PNC is a very fiscally conservative bank. It will not be hard at all to close our accounts and take them elsewhere with a better return for us, and at a minimum, the same or better customer service. Time to move on.

As a business owner, I deal with multiple banking institutions but try to use PNC ( Chesapeake Beach branch in Maryland) as often as I can.
Without a doubt they are the friendliest Banking institution that I have worked with.
The entire team is willing to go the extra mile whether answering questions without resentment or staying a few minutes late to assist with what ever I may need.
Manager Matthew is a true asset to the PNC family.. From afar, I watch him lead and assist his team.
Adriana is quick to welcome me with a pleasant hello and a warm smile.
Melissa, Lili, Brandon, and Jahne all display the same energy regardless the day or time.
Sincerely,
Scott

The Manager- Jahne Howell, is the very best banking professional I have ever encountered! Ms Howell and Matt went above and beyond to right what I believe was terribly wrong. I had righteous indignation when I entered PNC today but was truly Blessed to be assisted by this powerhouse manager.

They are a horrible. Don't bank here. Jane Howell is the manager and she is disrespectful and aweful. Too busy to help with an issue the bank caused. We have banked here for 20 years and this bank NOW doesn't care. We will leave this bank and recommend you do as well.

We are long time customers. Called to make appointment to do some account changes. Spoke with a banker who was totally clueless. Completely incompetent. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing… asked to speak to the manager. She did not apologize for her bankers lack of knowledge… seemed defensive and in competent herself. Asked for her District Manager.. she would not provide a name or phone number. Said we would get a call. Unlikely! I sure miss Elle of a few years back. So sad these folks don’t know their job or care about their customers. We have another bank so will be taking all of our business there.
