Managers will spend weeks telling you they will fix a problem they caused and then backtrack without offering any way to correct THEIR mistake, costing their customers money that they don’t care about. They need better staff.

02/11/19 - Came in to cash my check per usual and got the same rep that I had when I was last stopped by on 01/14/19 (Cerise Cohee). I provided her with my PNC debit card, drivers license and the PNC check I needed to cash. I assume it's going to be the regular process but instead I got to deal with a rep with a not so customer service friendly attitude. She calls my employer and asks him basically if he really wrote the check that I brought in and if it was for "X" amount. She ends the call by saying to him "we do this for all of our valued customers" because I assume he probably asked her why she called to ask. When she gets off the phone I get my ID and debit card back from her and I also take the check I brought in and let her know I will not be cashing my check here. She scrunched up her nose and asked me "why not?". I ask her why she called my employer about the check I brought in. She says "new policy we got a couple weeks ago". Really Cerise? I was just here a few weeks ago and you didn't do this. I was also at another PNC location in Alpharetta just 2 weeks ago to cash my paycheck and they didn't say anything or call my employer either. I tell her that I wasn't notified that PNC had new policies for cashing checks. She then says she was asked to call him to verify. I explain to her that it comes off as offensive because 1. you didn't give me the courtesy to let me know you had a new policy and that you would need to contact my employer before cashing the check & 2. it made me feel uncomfortable as if I was trying to scam them or something. Instead of saying "I can understand why you're frustrated" and explaining it to me some more, she says "it's not offensive because I was asked to call for checks that are over a certain amount". For someone who works in customer service, she lacks basic common sense when it comes to CUSTOMER SERVICE. When a client tells you that something you did made them feel a certain way, you don't disregard their feelings and tell them "no it's not offensive". The right thing to do would have been to say "Ms. X- I can understand why you might feel that way and I apologize if by calling I made you feel this way however, this is why and blah blah blah". You offer a RESOLUTION, you do not dismiss your customer. She said "mhm" as I left. Didn't offer an apology or anything at all. Just a "mhm". I get that we all have bad days but your customers are not your punching bags. My advice to you - get retrained. Learn to hide your annoyed facial expressions and watch your tone. If you're not a people person and you don't like your job I highly advise you to find somewhere else to work because the professionalism you displayed today is McDonald's standard. ***FYI - I went to another PNC location in Alpharetta and the branch manager there assisted me with my transaction. He did NOT call my employer and ask if the check was real. He also let me know he was not aware of any updates or changes in PNC's check cashing policies and advised me to contact corporate if I had questions or a complaint about the other branch. I checked my account and email as well, didn't see any updates or alerts about changes made to PNC's policies.*** The "new policy" seems fake. I brought a PNC check in to cash, so obvi she could verify but what if someone brings in a non-pnc check? How will you verify then? The check amount I had today wasn't much, under 2 grand. For something much higher I could understand but this? No. Cerise also tried to say "well also because its your first time here at this branch". No ma'am, it isn't. I just saw you a few weeks ago and you guys have a record of where I cash my checks. Not only that but why does it matter? My Chase bank only verifies checks if its the first time you cash THAT type of check but i've been cashing the same checks for over a year. LITERALLY THE SAME CHECKS FROM THE SAME EMPLOYER EVERY OTHER MONDAY FOR OVER A YEAR. I'm contacting corporate to ask about these "new policies". I guess not all PNC customers are valued customers, or at least according to Cerise they're not.
