The gentleman who greeted me was very polite and welcoming, but the experience quickly turned negative once I was handed off to the representative who was supposed to assist me. First, even though I provided my ID and an American Express card to confirm my identity, I was still required to go through an additional code verification with the teller, which felt unnecessary since I was standing there in person. Second, the representative was very short with me when asking a time frame on a name changed I proceeded a week ago and made it clear she was about to go to lunch and I need to make an appointment. She even told me she couldn’t help me, but then stayed to assist another client before partially addressing my request. Once we got to the point where I needed to sign a form to complete the process, she told me I would have to make an appointment instead and then walked away. The gentleman who initially greeted me also walked away, leaving me standing there with no direction or closure. What made this experience worse is that I shared two big life updates — that I recently got married and started my own business — and neither of the staff members acknowledged it or congratulated me. For a customer who already banks with PNC personally and is now trusting the bank with a new business account, this lack of professionalism and basic courtesy was extremely disappointing. This interaction left me feeling unvalued as a customer and questioning my decision to expand my relationship with PNC.
