I am a new PNC business client, and unfortunately I ran into serious issues right from the start.
To be fair, I’ve had a positive experience with loans/mortgage in the past — the mortgage process worked very well, and everything was smooth on that side. That’s why this situation with business banking is especially disappointing.
I was surprised to learn that online wire transfers are restricted for 60 days on a new business account. For an active business, this is a major limitation. For comparison, I have three business accounts with Bank of America, where I can easily send wire transfers online from home without any issues.
Because of this restriction, I went to a PNC branch to complete the wire in person. The banker assured me everything was correct and that the funds would be received “within 30 minutes.” However, the wire was not received because the employee manually entered the recipient’s information with multiple spelling errors, even though I provided a clearly printed document with all details.
As a result, I have already made two trips to the branch, and I am now being told that I may need to request an amendment or recall of the wire, wait for the funds to be returned, and then send the wire again. This would require yet another visit and creates further delays.
Because the deposit was not received, I did not receive the keys to the commercial space. I was expecting to gain access on Friday, but now everything has been pushed to Monday, and it is still unclear how long it will take to fully resolve and restore the transfer.
I am currently dealing with a commercial lease and strict move-in deadlines, and I am concerned that this situation may drag on for an extended period of time.
From a business bank, I expect:
clear and upfront disclosure of transfer restrictions,
accuracy when entering critical payment details, and
prompt resolution when a mistake is made by a bank employee.
Unfortunately, this has been a very disappointing experience at the beginning of my business banking relationship with PNC.
