In 1952, a group state employees met for the purpose of forming a financial cooperative for co-workers and their families. From these beginnings, Safe 1 Credit Union was founded.
The first Safe 1 "office" was actually a room located in the home of our first manager, with transaction receipts kept in a closet. By the end of our first month, Safe 1 had seven individuals banking with us and just over $300 in assets.
A lot has changed over the years. However, our commitment to serving the citizens of the southern San Joaquin Valley remains the same. That's why more than 75,000 individuals representing nearly $900 million in assets choose to bank with us.
