  We had our taxes done for 2-3 years or so here, and it’s unfortunate that we didn’t just do them ourselves. Though adequate to perform the job, we found the following repeated issues of enough concern that we did our own taxes this year: * Our taxes were the most basic; nothing more than a 10-15 minute job for anyone. The suggestive add-on ‘audit protection’ just wasn’t needed for either of us, but the sales pitch was always made. It reminded me of someone who only orders fries at a drive-thru, that an employee then tries to sales pitch a burger to. * It became clear that our tax preparer was cramming in as many clients as possible after his regular day job, and he told us as much. Communication with us flagged, particularly in 2023 after we had filed with him and paid, with multiple texts by my fiancé remaining un-responded to. * We are reasonably private people. Our preparer was inquisitive at times to the point of exasperation, satisfying his own curiosity with indifference. * Although we would agree on a time and place to meet, he was sometimes late, clearly rushed, and often grieving over an after hours work overload that he created. * We never heard anything from him after tax deadline this year, so we obviously weren’t missed as clients. There was no effort on his part whatsoever to obtain repeat business. The whole experience was reminiscent of a fast food style tax prep (inclusive of the ‘suggestive sale’) with a commensurate low level of communication. The poor communication was the dealbreaker for us. On a positive note, our taxes were accurately prepared and filed, thus the equitable ‘meets standards’ average rating.

  My husband has always done our taxes and trusted no one until Alan Gurevitz. He is a very nice person, easy to work with, great communicator, responsive, knowledgeable and thorough. That’s just to name a few of his fabulous business qualities. Our taxes are handled perfectly and timely. We highly recommend Alan.

  We have used Alan Gurevitz for our taxes for many years now. He is very knowledgable and organized. Every year I submit what I have and he flips the paperwork quickly so that we get our tax returns early. Will continue to use him years to come. Eddie Lopez
