Good Riddance! Touchmark had always been viewed as the gold standard in our parent’s eyes. The place to move to when the need finally arose. Well, the reality of our experience is very tarnished. The sales staff are experts at selling the place. They used terms like “we are at your beck and call”, “your every need will be taken care of”. What they failed to do was inform us that major construction would be happening right below the apartment within days of moving in and continuing throughout our stay. That the jack hammers would be deafeningly loud as early as 7:30am and the floor would shake causing distress to the residents. Dust from construction couldn’t be filtered through their antiquated heating and air units causing my parent to use an inhaler for asthma that hadn’t surfaced in years. Motel 6 has more efficient units. Upon giving notice of leaving, we asked for a credit for the unoccupied days we still had to pay due to their 60days notice policy and we were told we should have said something earlier. Her mental health was deteriorating daily. We were told she could have attended Town Halls but those were all held prior to our moving in. My mom complained daily to the staff and they said they would convey her displeasure to the administration. Clearly, that didn’t happen or the gaslighting that she received throughout her stay continued. Touchmark’s administration are experts at gaslighting. Never admitting or denying responsibility. Responding with ambiguous answers and not directly addressing the issue at hand. It wasn't until we called meetings with admin, medical staff that we were able to get some issues addressed efficiently. My parent felt the Assisting Living area was depressing. Touchmark segregates these residents to a back corner of their large facility. “The third floor”. Other residents respond with, “oh, you live on the third floor, you’ll never be able to leave there.” And my parent felt this bad impression of the third floor every time she met someone or returned to her room from the main area of the facility. It gave the feeling of a convalescent home. When we asked for a plan to help transition to independent living as my mom came in after a serious injury, we were met with resistance and she was even told she would never get out of assisted living. And be forewarned, Assisted Living is a pay by the point system that will nickel and dime every penny from you and by pennies I mean thousands. Staff meet and discuss all about the care points and how they can increase points for residents. That's how they make more money. My parent caught them going through her trash looking for who knows what, but they were. In the end it was a lesson learned. We asked for an exit interview to share our concerns but never heard anything back. So, hopefully they read this. My overall opinion……Touchmark is overrated, antiquated and not worth the value (food was good). Do your research and advocate for your parent. Trust your gut!!! Don’t let the administration avoid responsibility. There are other places that will be a better fit.

I am incredibly grateful to have spent some of Thanksgiving at Touchmark. Having worked in retirement communities myself, I came in with high expectations—and this community exceeded every one of them. From the moment I arrived, the staff were genuinely welcoming and kind, creating an atmosphere that felt both joyful and heartfelt. The dining team outdid themselves with a beautifully prepared Thanksgiving buffet that was not only delicious but thoughtfully presented. What truly stood out to me, though, was the sense of togetherness. There was a social table where residents, family and staff gathered to work on crosswords, puzzles, and games together—laughing, connecting, and simply enjoying each other’s company. It was a meaningful reminder of what community should feel like.

I’ve had the opportunity to attend multiple large events at Touchmark, and each time I walk away impressed all over again. The dedication this community shows—not just to creating memorable experiences, but to truly supporting meaningful causes—is remarkable. Their commitment to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s through thoughtfully planned events is especially moving. These gatherings go beyond entertainment; they bring residents, families, staff, and the greater community together in a way that feels intentional and heartfelt. You can feel the purpose behind everything they do. Touchmark consistently proves that community is built through connection, compassion, and shared causes. It’s inspiring to witness a place that doesn’t just host events, but uses them to make a real difference.

As a community member, I have attended several public events and fundraisers put on by the wonderful people at Touchmark. I have always been greeted with a warm smile and introduction by staff members who you can tell are passionate about what they do. Looking forward to attending more events in the future. Keep it up Touchmark!
