Family Resource Home Care has wonderful providers—when you can get them. And I have no worries about the safety and level of care they provide. Unfortunately, the biggest issues are poor communication and unreliable scheduling that leave us scrambling. The phone system is extremely difficult to navigate, making it nearly impossible to reach staff at the Seattle branch. There are no direct phone numbers, they all go through a phone tree, even when just trying to call our main branch. And, their scheduling team does not take incoming calls; today I spent 60 minutes on hold—constantly being told I was “next in line”—only to be kicked to voicemail after 30 minutes each time, forcing me to call back and continue waiting. When I’ve asked how the phone system could be improved, the branch manager shared his frustration and recommended leaving this Google review to escalate the issue. It's clear that regional leadership does not view it as an issue worth addressing, and this results in poor customer service. Communication is particularly important when it comes to care for the elderly because it’s a safety matter to know who is coming into our home to care for a vulnerable family member. When we try to get care outside our standing/regular days of care, we are rarely told in advance who will be assigned, nor are we notified when caregivers cancel. This is all despite repeated assurances that we would be. Neither schedulers nor branch managers reliably notify us of the caregiver we can expect, leaving us guessing who will knock on our door and scrambling at the last minute. I value and appreciate the caregivers we've had the opportunity to work with, but just wish our experiences with their administrative and scheduling team has been more positive. Especially since we're paying for these services.

Unfortunately have to make this review to be taken seriously. Here's some of the issues we have come into with family resources who we have tried continuously with for a year now, so they have had plenty of opportunities to get it right: 1. Scheduling!!!! EVERY week there is a new issue and a new caregiver. Scheduling for when my father isn't even home, and then the caregiver refusing to show up for the shift. We get promised consistency and within 2 weeks theres always scheduling issues to leave our dementia fall risk father both alone and unattended to with no notice. We ask to use our extra hours, they confirm with us a shift extension and then dont tell the caregivers forcing us into panic and emergency mode with 10 minutes notice. Family resources has done this more times than I can count, and has had caregivers no show and claim they came and try to take wages while my father is left unattended with no notice and no coverage 2. Extra charges and property damage! They have billed us incorrectly, overcharged hundreds of dollars while leaving hostile and incorrect voicemails while there is a paper trail of previous communication. These people just cannot get their ducks in a row. They put my parents into overdraft and then didnt send repayment correction for 2+ months and ignored all emails asking for a follow up on when the check would arrive. Then they had a caregiver stuff PAPER TOWELS down our toilet, clog it and get feces into our carpet so we spent hundreds in repairs, hours in cleaning and had an unlivable housing situation with disabled adults with only 1 bathroom available. We still have not been reimbursed for this either! 3. Accountability No matter how many times issues are flagged, the best circumstances is false promises the worst circumstance is rudeness and plain ignoring communications. Their company has caused tangible fiscal, personal and other hardship and continues to show they are unreliable and uninterested in finding permanent solutions to the issues that continue over, and over, and over again. The representatives are nice people, but not reliable and not personally accountable to make sure problems get solved. If you're ready to finance, drop all your obligations last minute, get marked up at work, do repairs and getting care for your loved is more of a casual convenience than a reliable need, this place is for you. Hopefully, yall will start taking complaints seriously now that its public. I'll amend this review when the above issues are resolved - sustainably.

Frequently Asked Questions About Family Resource Home Care

What is the difference between home care, home health care, and private duty home care?

Home care can be broken down into two different categories. One type performs custodial care — care for the aging and disabled that helps a person with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and transferring. Custodial care also includes helping a person perform instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). IADLs are tasks not involving physical contact with a client, but necessary for independent living such as light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation and planning, shopping and errands, using communication devices (telephone, writing), and managing money. Most senior clients of Family Resource Home Care need help with both ADLs and IADLs. The other type of in-home care is medical home care, also known as home health care. Home health care is performed mostly by nurses and physical and occupational therapists. It involves skilled procedures such as wound care, IV lines and infusion therapy, managing medications, physical and occupation therapy, and skilled nursing care. Private duty home care refers to the method of payment. Private duty home care services aren’t covered by Medicare or health insurance. With a few exceptions, they’re paid for privately by the client, or by long-term care insurance.

How do I know if I need in-home care services?

People of all ages and abilities want to stay safe and independent at home. Many people over the age of 65 are happy and healthy at home, while some experience changes in mental or physical faculties that cause them to grow less independent with age. Others may have more serious illnesses such as cancer, stroke, Parkinson’s, or Alzheimer’s. When complications due to aging or more serious ailments begin to interfere with living self-sufficiently, having an in-home care professional to offer extra help may become necessary. Home care services are not just for seniors. There are many different scenarios in which home care can improve quality of life. The majority of our clients tend to be seniors with varying health conditions wanting to remain independent at home. However, home care may also be necessary for those needing transportation to or from a surgical procedure, temporary home care following a procedure to facilitate recovery, transitioning from one level of care to another, or people of any age struggling with everyday life due to a chronic illness.
