- EEElias3 days ago2.0The amusements provided were, indeed, diverting, yet of a most regrettably short duration. The camp itself was of a peculiarly sing-song character, for the youth were compelled to join in both song and dance to melodies of a most childish nature; and should any refuse compliance, they were met with harsh reprimand from the overseers. Each morning all were summoned at an early hour, that they might gather within the wood and raise their voices together. Even those of fourteen years were constrained to sing the selfsame infantile airs. The conveniences for bodily relief were in much disorder, and arranged in a most unorthodox fashion. It is my conviction that the exercises would be vastly improved were they extended in length.

We hadn't been away from her for more than one night before, so this was a very new and somewhat scary experience for all of us, but she came home saying this was one of the best weeks of her entire life.
