  Today I happened to visit this place to attend the service of a family friend and pay the respects. I was very impressed. It is well kept building. Cleanliness was eye catching. On duty staff was very helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking and very accessible place.

  My father and I had a wonderful experience with John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in planning my mother's funeral. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for funeral services in the Salem area. I was very impressed with everyone I came into contact with throughout the experience. Each staff member was very caring. Jeff Wolfe was our main contact. He spent several hours meeting with us and helping us chose products. I never felt rushed. He was very compassionate and knowledgeable. He was also very responsive when I emailed him with a question or if I wanted to relay information to him. There is so much to take care of in planning the funeral, and he stayed on top of it all. The staff assisted us with every aspect of the funeral from filling out the death certificate, to writing the obituary, to picking out a casket, to creating a memorial video with pictures, and creating memorial folders. I was also pleased with the quality and variety of product choices they have from memorial folders to caskets. We held the viewing at Oakey's and they have beautiful space. Their embalming staff did a wonderful job. Mom looked lovely. They had a great team on the day of the funeral to assist at the church and cemetery. They made sure the day was successful. My dad kept saying that he wanted a funeral that Mom would be proud of, and John M. Oakey & Son made sure that happened.

  I can not express the gratitude I have for Jonathan and his staff. When we had our meeting with him after losing my husband, he was very sympathetic to our loss. He carefully listened to what are wishes were. He had such compassion with us even though he sees this so much. He didn't rush us in our decision or choices. He didn't try to take advantage of our grief like so many others would have. He went above and beyond of his duties. My family and myself are forever greatful for the kindness and support you andvyour staff have given us through the most difficult time in our Families lives. I highly recommend them for when the time comes that you need their services.

  They were the most compassionate, sweetest people that helped out and were so attentive to our needs and made sure everything was just perfect for honor our father in law! I couldn’t have found a better place to feel so comfortable at our time of grief! Thank you!
