AOG empowers individuals and communities experiencing food insecurity and substance use barriers by providing essential services that promote self sufficiency.
While my departure is overtly premature, my intentions are positively pure and valid.
Please know that my experiences at AOG were nothing short of phenomenal! I really wish my next chapter and what that looks like for me were more aligned with the expectations and prerequisites of the program's attendance prerequisites and normal expectational practices.
I was able to reap benefits of the Humanitarian-Spirited professionals Program-Wide whom are all equally, genuinely caring. I am super nervous and slightly regretful about having to discharge prematurely as I could only imagine all there is to come, the dire need for such and what I will be missing out on. This program enabled me to tap into courage, strength, coping skills and resilience, hence my confidence in onward movement against recommendation.
Pardon the extensive text, however greatness deserves celebration- If you will...
I want to extend special thanks to Michael Hess and Angelique for the warm, reassuring and encouraging welcome to the program. I am glad we met.
Vincente LaShonda & Mike Walter, Annette, Ms. Webber & Shannon,
Aquella (My Twin- I want to extend my sincerest appreciation as I feel blessed and honored to have made your acquaintance. Your big personality comingled with your genuine sincerity is all that I could ever need in my life right now. Your charismatic charter is just what the program needs in more volumes. I sincerely appreciate your brilliance, intelligence, firm but fair standards, along with that brutal honest- styled curriculum is most empowering. Our very first interaction would mark the day I grew more mature and realistically accountable. I love how you refuse to take no for an answer, settle for less and most importantly I can tell you strategically planned for higher standards you hold us and all others around you to in encouragement to follow your aim-nonnegotiably. The program has an added value with your existence as you serves as nothing less than an asset of quality. An essential recipe to enable one to be better, have ridged boundaries while staying ready. .Thank you so much, for being you!!! Thank you so much for helping me be a much needed better version of myself)
Sel, Lorenzo, CVPP's Mecca, Leti and Ms. Holmes all of your colleagues and etc. facility-wide for being tenacious in your efforts and devoted in participation of the pivotal role your program plays in helping me through my fight against the disease of addiction.
I wish the program much continued success and success stories. I promise I will not let either you all nor myself down. I vow to reach out to stay focused, accountable, responsible and mature enough to acknowledge failure at once and reach out to all in efforts of :Keep coming back, it works if you work it".

Despite the very corporate sounding name, this place is a community outreach center where they provide food and other items to those in need. If you are looking for a way to do community service, as a group or a family, for teens or court-appointed, this place is for you. You don't do anything here. You can do it home, at an office, during a family gathering, etc. You just go on their website and pick a kit type to create. All the instructions are given. You can make breakfast kits, dinner kits, toiletry kits, full day kits, it's up to you and also based on how many hours you need. Then you follow the instructions for drop off. Easy peasy. You can also donate money or items for kits, but you don't get any hours for that. 😉

I am so grateful for AOG , the program changed my life. This was my second try and sobriety, and I really did not want to go to Richmond. ( I am from Virginia Beach area) However , I had lost everything and was involved with the courts. I decided to surrender and trust the process. Being able to have stable housing , while I went thru counseling and medication management changed everything. After I graduated, I got a job after not working 5 years. I just celebrated 1 year sober. Thank you so much to everyone involved 💙
