We recently lost my brother-in-law very suddenly and were completely unprepared. He had no burial plan or funds set aside, and we were not from the area, so trying to arrange a funeral on a tight timetable was overwhelming. Thankfully, we found Covenant Funeral Service and met a wonderful person named Amber Rich. From the very start, she was kind, respectful, and genuinely compassionate. She understood our grief and uncertainty and guided us through every step of the process with patience and care. Not knowing anything about funeral costs or planning, we relied completely on her knowledge. Amber helped us review our options, make the right decisions, and organize a meaningful service. Despite the short timeline—my brother-in-law passed away on Saturday, and by Wednesday night we were able to hold the wake, on Thursday the funeral... everything came together beautifully thanks to her help. We will always be grateful to Amber and the team at Covenant Funeral Service for their professionalism, empathy, and dedication during such a difficult time.

Our experience at covenant was exceptional. Mr. Charles Christopher helped us with a very important subject, but he made it very easy and very economical for us. You can’t go wrong with funeral preplanning with covenant. The peace of mind is priceless. I highly recommend them. Especially if you are a service member.

From the moment we walked in to set up services for our son, Chuck (or Charles A. Cooper, Jr), we met only smiling, loving and caring folks. Chuck, our 66-year-old son born with Down Syndrome, had passed away the night before at the Lily Rose Residential Home where he’d been living for about 7 months. We were introduced to Amber R. who was to help us set up all the necessary events surrounding Chuck’s passing…and there were many. From the beginning we felt that Amber had been sent by God. She was loving, caring, gracious and extremely efficient! Every little detail from the visitation, the celebration of life at Ferry Farm Baptist Church (our church) to the burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens was handled beautifully. We are so thankful to Amber and the entire Covenant staff for all their support.

Frequently Asked Questions About Covenant Funeral Service - Fredericksburg

Why have a public viewing?

Viewing is a part of many cultural and ethnic traditions. Many grief specialists believe that viewing aids the grief process by helping the bereaved recognize the reality of death. Viewing is encouraged for children, as long as the process is explained and the activity is voluntary.

What is the purpose of embalming?

Embalming sanitizes and preserves the body. Embalming makes it possible to lengthen the time between death and the final disposition, allowing family members time to arrange and participate in the type of service most comforting to them.
