Needless to say, I was more than overwhelmed and had no idea where to start. My mother’s wishes since I was child were to have her body donated to the Virginia Anatomical Society. I thought this was an easy thing to accomplish after her passing. I called several local funeral homes and I was always met with more questions than answers until I called Everly. I left a message at Everly and a few minutes later received a call back from the funeral director, Maria. In the first couple of minutes speaking with her, I felt an immediate relief and had a resolution for what needed to be done. I never had an opportunity to meet Maria in person but my gratitude to her and Everly is indescribable! My mother’s only wish was to have her body donated and have someone learn from her and Everly completely fulfilled this wish. I am forever grateful to Maria and Everly and I would not hesitate in recommending them for your loved one.

What is the purpose of embalming?
Embalming sanitizes and preserves the body. Embalming makes it possible to lengthen the time between death and the final disposition, allowing family members time to arrange and participate in the type of service most comforting to them.
Does a dead body have to be embalmed, according to law?
The Federal Trade Commission says, "Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Why are funerals so expensive?
