After initial issues with contacting this funeral home to transport the deceased and having to contact another provider, we were finally able to contact them and arrange for a transfer here. The funeral services intern we worked with was professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Personally I find the services to be very expensive but I did not compare prices with other businesses due to the burial site already being affiliated with this location.

I hate leaving one star reviews for any form of corporation but this one hit us hard. Especially during a family who is grieving a loss of a loved one. Now this is our experience and it may not be or have been others who have used this funeral home. But just thought I’d share. Things should be able to go smoothly for families during these times and to count on those who will take care of us when we most need them. The meeting with the director Jeremy went good I would say, he explained the process of things but if you don’t have questions or forget to ask them during that meeting, best believe the communication is cut after the moment you provide them with the check. We went multiple times in person to speak with him or tried calling him but we were told he wasn’t available or that he would reach back out to us. He never did, I had to email him to get a quick reply back. Either way, story cut short, when the service time came we went there first to make sure things were good, IT WAS A DISASTER! They had the wrong person as the picture of our loved one attached to his name at the front entrance , they had only 20 chairs instead of 50 chairs for the people we had mentioned would come. The space wasn’t what we were told would look like, and once we asked for more chairs we ourselves had to arrange the chairs like we had wanted them in the first place when we signed the contract with the help of one employee. Mind you this was our time as a family to grieve first before the rest arrived, didn’t even allow us to do that. After another request they finally accommodated us accordingly. But it’s the whole process it took that took away from our time and at that we did their job!
Mind you Jeremy was never to be found, and nor did he ever call us to apologize for the mistakes they made.

The entire staff at FAIRFAX MEMORIAL PARK were extremely helpful, kind, supportive and respectful to me during the most difficult and stressful time of my life.
I can’t thank them enough for their guidance and understanding for what I needed to do for my lovely wife. They helped me find the perfect place for her and for that I am eternally grateful.
Thank you again for your great service.
Jim Quinn, Mary’s husband of 46 years.

It's weird to write a review for services during such a tough time, but Fairfax Memorial did a great job. They were kind, attentive, responsive and made our mom look amazing. We appreciate their services and would recommend them to anyone needing assistance with funeral services.

This was the first time I’ve had to arrange a funeral and my parents couldn’t have chosen any better. The first moment of entering the premises and shaking hands with Benjamin Hinckle to final details all was handled gently, confidently, and knowledgeable with ample evidence of experience. Now we wait for Arlington National Cemetery to complete the end of my dad’s journey and all will be well. Thank you Fairfax Memorial for your careful handling of my needs!
Frequently Asked Questions About Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home
How long does the actual cremation take?
It depends on the weight of the individual. For an average size adult, cremation takes from 3 to 4 hours at normal operating temperature between 1,650 degrees F to 2,000 degrees F.
What happens after the cremation is complete?
All bone fragments, which are very brittle, as well as inorganic metal items are swept into the front of the cremation chamber and into a stainless steel cooling pan. All non-consumed items, such as metal from clothing, artificial joints, and dental implants, are separated from the cremated remains. This separation is accomplished through visual inspection as well as using a strong magnet for smaller and minute metallic objects. Items such as dental gold and silver are non-recoverable and are commingled in with the cremated remains. Remaining bone fragments are then processed in a machine to a consistent size and placed into a temporary or permanent urn, selected by the family.
In what kind of container are the cremated remains returned?
The cremated remains are placed in a basic container at no charge to you. Or they may be placed in the urn of your choice from our large selection of urns available for purchase.
What can be done with the cremated remains?
There are many options. Remains can be buried in a cemetery lot or cremation garden, inurned in a columbarium, kept at home, or scattered on private property. Our staff will be happy to discuss these options with you and make any arrangements.
Can the family witness the cremation?
Yes. Our state-of-the-art cremation facility is set up to allow family members to be present when the body is placed into the cremation chamber. In fact, some religious groups include this as part of their funeral custom.
