*By Appointment Only Monday through Saturday*
No matter your story, we welcome you to join us as we all try to be a little bit better, a little bit kinder, a little more helpful—because that’s what Jesus taught. We are a diverse community of followers of Jesus Christ and welcome all to worship here. We fellowship together as well as offer youth and children’s programs.
Jesus Christ can make you a better person. You can make us a better community. Come worship with us. Church services are held every Sunday. Visitors are always welcome.
Horrible neighbors. These people steal street parking by putting up random no parking signs even though they have a parking lot out back. Screaming kids on the weekends. Skateboarders on the property every other day.

The historic Sugar House Ward building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was built from 1924 to 1927. The Chapel features a balcony; stained glass windows; and a bas relief triptych featuring the Hill Cumorah, Joseph Smith praying during his First Vision of God and Jesus Christ, and the Susquehanna River. This bas relief is presumed to have been made by Norwegian-American artist and Sugar House resident, Torleif S. Knaphus. The building design came from the Church Architect’s Office, under the direction of Colonel Willard Young and Joseph Don Carlos Young (who was the primary architect for the interior of the Salt Lake Temple). Construction began following the site dedication in August 1924, with the Amusement Hall (north side of the building) being completed in January 1925. Church meetings were held in the Amusement Hall beginning in April 1925 while construction continued on the Chapel (south side of the building). The chapel was completed in 1927 and the building dedication was held on October 16, 1927.
The Sugar House Ward moved out of the building in July 1995 and began meeting at the Sugar House Stake Center located at 1100 E and 1700 S. The building continued to be used as the Westminster Institute of Religion for the Church and as a meetinghouse for a young single adult congregation. In 2018, the Sugar House Ward moved back into the building, utilizing it alongside the Westminster Young Single Adult Ward and the Wesminster Institute.
This historic building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is used for 3 purposes (as of 2022).
The Sugar House Ward (an all-ages congregation) meets for church services on Sundays from 10am-12pm. The first hour is the main service and the second hour is Sunday School classes. The ward also hosts weeknight activities for youth. Visitors are welcome to attend.

I am a student at Westminster College. I Love coming to institute classes each week and learning about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The teachers are amazing and really care about the students. I don't think I could handle the stresses of life and school without institute.
