I’ve been thinking a lot how to put my thoughts into words so this may be a bit long. My daughter just had her wedding June 27th. I’ll start off saying that the venue is beautiful. It is also inexpensive compared to other venues. And for the most part everyone is nice but that is the extent of it. The number one thing is they are very unorganized. Destiny the owner and her cousin Nikki aren’t on the same page. Sometimes there’s email or meetings that take place where both aren’t there and one doesn’t know what the other is saying. I’ve had to repeat myself multiple times about different things. They don’t remember meetings and I’m ringing the doorbell and banging on the door. The second thing is the food. Listen to people when they say the food isn’t good. I was very misled about the prime rib. I was told that it would be medium rare which it wasn’t and the carver who I had to pay extra for said it’s normally just medium. Also I was told I could have it cut as big as I wanted. But they cut it very very thin. If you ask for a bigger piece they cut a second one very very thin. It was $37 per person. I could go to the roadhouse and get a 12 oz steak for less. The shrimp scampi was bland. The thing that ruined the day was how hot it was in the house. We noticed not all the air conditions were turned on. My husband had to do it. Upstairs my daughter was getting hair and makeup done and the floor fan that was provided didn’t work well at all. People weren’t dancing because it was so hot they were outside. So we decided to end it early. We had it till 4 and clean up was till 5. It was about 3. I went outside to get the containers for the cake and I was told by multiple family members that the staff said if I wasn’t there in 5 min to get the cake they were throwing it out. Mind you I still had almost 2 hours left to clean up. The cake cost me $1500. It would probably be a great wedding during the colder months but not in the summer because they can’t cool it down. One more thing, I thought the cost of the catering was one thing but they tacked on an additional tax outside of the 24%. I ended up paying an extra $700. Not sure if I’d recommend this place

The entire staff was amazing to work with! I threw a surprise birthday party for my wife and they went above and beyond to make the event special, make sure all the guests had a great time, and made the night a memorable experience!

Our experience at The Purple Iris in Martinsburg, WV was nothing short of unforgettable. We hosted my daughter’s baby shower there, and from the moment we walked in, I felt this wave of relief — everything was already beautifully set up. The tables, linens, napkins… every detail was in place, like they had been preparing for someone they genuinely cared about. The food was delicious, but what truly moved me was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. They weren’t just doing a job — they were taking care of us. They cleared dishes, refilled drinks, and handled cleanup so gracefully that we were able to simply be present. I got to sit back, breathe, and watch my daughter open her gifts without feeling rushed or pulled away. That meant more to me than I can put into words. The space itself felt cool, comfortable, and welcoming — the kind of place where guests settle in and don’t want to leave. And the outdoor area… it felt like stepping into someone’s lovingly tended home. Clean, peaceful, and so well maintained. From the very first conversation during booking to the moment we walked out the door, everything was smooth, warm, and thoughtfully handled. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this venue and the people who run it. I would recommend The Purple Iris for any event — they helped make a very special day even more meaningful.
